Continental Road Bike Tire
Everyone who has a serious passion for riding has their preference for everything on their bicycle. I've tinkered with mine, changing a part here and a part there, picking and choosing which ones I want on my machine to the point that it might as well be a custom job by now. It's all rearranged anyway. The lifeblood of any bicycle are the tires. Although I have different specs for my mountain bike, I always go with the Continental road bike tire for my main ride. I've found through the years that if there's something that I want in a wheel, I can find it there.

I especially like that the particular Continental road bike tire that I normally have on there is great for all-purpose riding. I can make the transition from one thing to another without having to change anything. Sometimes I do anyway, and change it out for another model of Continental road bike tire that is made specifically for whichever way I am planning to ride that day. But for the most part, I do like to be spontaneous about my style of cycling, and I want to just go.
As an example, the other day I went out early for a ride on a Saturday morning. I started off riding my bicycle through the city. A little before noon, one of my cycling buddies calls me on my cell to see if I was around. So, I wound up meeting with him. We're both competitive by nature and eventually we got into a race like we always do. Which I don't mind saying that I won, by the way. Later on that day, we actually wound up driving into the countryside to meet another friend of ours for a quick ride over some dirt roads. And I never had to change the Continental road bike tire that I had on for any of this. I went from street riding to racing to a trip down a rocky, dirt road on the with the same Continental road bike tire installed. And that's why I love to have all-around tires on my bicycle. Because I never know where the day may take me.
Every now and then I do change things up if I'm doing something very specific. Like, if I went out knowing that I was going to be in something more serious than just a friendly race, I might go for tires that were meant for racing. As I said, I'm competitive, and if I can give myself an edge, then I will. But for just an average day out, even if there is a little competition involved somewhere along the way, I feel like I just can't go wrong with equipment that's well rounded for anything that comes at me.
I think the best thing about riding long enough to find out what your own preferences are when it comes to equipment is that eventually you find brands that you have faith in. The first time I had to look around for somerthing to race on, my search was made easier since I already had a good starting point. And to this day I have been able to find a great Continental road bike tire for any way I want to ride.
