Road Bike Tire Pump
The tires that I always use are great. They are all-purpose, stronger than steel, and are highly resistant to punctures. But accidents and things beyond my control still happen. That's why I like to carry a safety kit around with me when I ride. There are several necessities included in it like spare tubes, a road bike tire pump, tire levers, tools, and sometimes even things like flares. But that last one is only if I know I'm going to be off road in the middle of the woods somewhere. I would rather carry a little extra weight and be safe than feel like an idiot lost in the trees for a month.

The flare gun and some of the other stuff that I got used to taking along with me sometimes are optional and the need for them really depends on what your style of riding is. If you only ride in the city, then there is no reason why you would need one. Unless of course you are afraid of killler rats and think you might need scare them away with some fire. One of the things that I think every rider should have is the road bike tire pump. Flat tires are inevitable. I've found myself in several situations where one of my tires has gone flat and if I had no way of fixing it then things would have been way worse than they were for me. It's always when you're not expecting things to go wrong that they always do too.
My friends and I talk about Murphy's Law all the time. It'll be on a day when the weather couldn't be more perfect, and you're out for a leisurely ride. That's when you'll hit a funky patch of ground, and sopmething will pierce your wheel, and that will be that. Then if you don't have some basic tools like a road bike tire pump with you, you're in for one very bad day. It's not like you can ride on a flat, so if you're miles from home when it happens, you better have your walking shoes on.
Like everything else, I had to learn this the hard way. It was early on in my bicycle riding adventures. I was on a mountain bike at the time, just flying downhill, and I got a flat. Back then, I used to ride around completely unprepared for anything, so I didn't have any tools or a road bike tire pump with me. There was nothing I could do but start hoofing it. It was just lucky for me that I wasn't too deep in the woods. I knew where I was and I could walk out of it. It took me a few hours, but I made it.
The day after that I made sure to get a road bike tire pump, some tubes, and everything else I would need to stay safe. It's just not worth the potential hassle to try and ride without it. Nowadays, that I'm older and wiser, I wouldn't even think about heading out without my road bike tire pump and safety kit.
